Hello everyone, the new 2022 year is already looming in the yard, which promises to bring us new interesting game releases. I am a big fan of games of different genres, as well as films, and I remember those wonderful times when these two cool spheres went hand in hand. I decided to touch this topic in my video, taking the SAW series as the basis of the game:

But once we happily ran for the chip and Dale, having seen enough of the animated series of the same name, we were looking for a secret room for Harry Potter and learned all the power of strength in the next Star Wars game. Unfortunately, over the past ten years, this direction buried deeper into the ground.
But why did it happen? It would seem that popular cinema means the game will be well sold, and statistics have proved this by once. Or maybe the fact is that the games themselves were very bad? And besides the same names had nothing to do with the original source? But there is no smoke without fire and I, Aaandroid, I decided to understand this issue specifically.

In May 2021, Chris Rock and Darang Bowman gave birth to a new part of the once cult series of thrillers – the saw Spiral. Here in this spiral the film and merged into the toilet, without earned a penny. But even the useless eighth of something brought something in due time. I don’t understand how the director of half the films was able to crap so. And so I, wiping a mean tear, went from the cinema home to review the whole franchise.
Gugl, who understands my bitterness, helpfully recalled the existence of the game Saw: The Video Game, which I took place in the distant 2009. I remember that at that time I really liked it. But it’s strange, the ninth film was already released, and the game was only one. Or it’s just a duckling syndrome and I am mistaken in its quality? Let’s figure it out.
Films – good foundation?
The plot of the game on the time is between the first and second films. Such a move only allows you to rely on the setting and characters, complementing and developing the plot of the source. I wonder how well the developers were able to cope with this task?
The main feature of this meat series is that the events of all films are terribly intertwined and the execution of one character in the fifth part passes, for example, to the events of the second. And not only in the plot of the films the devil will break the leg, so the game that gives rise to questions is now added now.
Look, in the first saw, the main plot is spinning around three characters: the first is a detective who wants to catch an ominous maniac by any means, which is why his friendship-fellow, and he himself catches a bullet. The remaining duet hangs out with chains on the legs in the dumbbell and receives an invitation to play in a deadly quest room. One must saw off his leg, and the second to die.
In the second film, the designer, namely, is the name of our maniac, locked eight criminals in the house, pumped up air with nasty gas and they, passing simple trials, must find an antidote so as not to discard the flippers. As you can see, the scale has grown.

All this looks like a good concept for a thriller with trials. The bosses of horses thought exactly the same, dreaming of making a huge series of games based on the films of this franchise. But where is this series? What went wrong? Let’s figure it out.
We plunge into the game, where the main character is the suddenly revived detective David Tapp. Isn’t he dead? Ah yeah, if they have not shown a corpse, then the character can still return – a well -known film cliche. We are shown how a saw is a second click of a maniac, he took care of him and pulled a bullet out of the wound, but instead placed a laying in the form of a key. Like only they can open the way to freedom. And for his for his detective they will be ready to tear to pieces. It is the TepPU that has to go through hell in an abandoned mental hospital, saving the people imprisoned here through his fault. Well, killing them in packs, of course. The tie had a good fuse to shoot, like the first drank at one time.
In Katszen, the character of David is shown in full accordance with the source. He is also the department to catch the villain with his obsession and does not lose the opportunity to ask the rescued characters about the appearance of the designer:

Let’s talk a little about the place where all the events of the game are held. Once it was a successful look like the hospital, which was sponsored by Umbrella (not the same, but the other), not paying attention to the atrocities that are being created here in relation to the mentally ill. That is, the place where the protagonist overcomes the difficulties of survival is not taken from the ceiling, but is supported by many events reflected in intra -game letters and documents. I think it turned out not bad that this information goes back to the background, since it does not play an important role. But it adds realism.
Fortunately, the most interesting thing lurks in the notes. The designer left a bunch of audio recordings in the building. Apparently the fetish is on his little shiny. A voice recorder. Wherever I did not hide cassettes for them, kheh. There are also audio recordings intended for other players. No, it’s not about multiplayer. Just a saw calls his tests games, so each of its participant is a player. Only now, these audio recordings are completely meaningless. In them you can hear only orders to prevent our TEPPU detective detective. However, what is their motivation, for what reason they were here – all this remains somewhere behind the scenes. This fact lubricates the sensation of immersion in the world of the film.
I would like to note that initially the first publisher insisted on adding a multiplayer, the game even has assets of various characters for this regime. But the change of the publisher on Konami allowed the team to abandon this venture. A pity, Dead by Daylight showed that it could come out well.

We, as players, do not put us before a difficult moral choice – to save or not the next killer. No, because you will have to save not very interesting people. By the way, only three of them are taken from films. Of the interesting I can note the forensic scientist Foster, who successfully escaped the prison after he knocked out to death the tramp and substituted another person. What can you just do to save your ass and not go to jail, yes? As well as Melissa – the wife of our late partner, who still has not experienced grief, blames David in everything and completely scored on a child who was left without a father. For her negligence, she was stolen on a light. There is another fanatic – Ob, who dreamed of being inside this building, because for the sake of his test, he even submitted an ad to the newspaper.
Kramer: “You want to be like me. But only one who understands the value of life can give others the opportunity to live a full life.”
I don’t know if he was aware of where this curve of the path would lead, but in the second saw he still has to prove himself, fulfilling the instructions of his mentor.
About the drug addict Amanda and a man who used to sit with drills at his head, and now he gets chiseled peaks, I have nothing to say, they are so inconspicuous. Only a reporter left on high -profile affairs about a mysterious maniac. It was he who distributed the nickname “saw” that John Kramer, hiding behind this image: did not like at all:

The atmosphere is played by unsuccessful test results of other players. Folded, torn bodies make you nervous, I do not want to become one of them. Even the editing of Kitszen is made in the style of films: a sharp change of plans, bright flashes.
As a result, our protagonist liberates all the captives, defeats all the pawns of the antagonist and gets to two doors-confusion. As you can understand, the game is completely corridor and does not allow you to influence the story to this final point. Based on game experience, we need to decide what to do: save everyone or continue to chase the revenge. According to Lora, the ending of the door “Freedom” was adopted in the canon of the series. In it, the detective returns to his apartment and looks through newspaper clippings, where, according to the rescued captives, he became a hero. However, the TEPP is too obsessed with thoughts of the saw, and cannot survive disappointment in himself from another failure. Therefore, David ends the life of suicide, shooting himself in the head.
But personally I like the second ending more – Truth. It is there that we see the workplace of the designer and begin the chase behind him. Only now, overtaking the main villain, and having a little bit off him, the TEPP discovers that it is not him, but one of the previously saved captives, who became the same puppet of saws as the main character!

The canonical ending is contrary to the character of the detective. Tapp was stubborn, purposeful and was ready to track off the criminal by any means. Suicide would definitely not in his style. So such a canon does not suit me. As I said, the trick of the films in their unexpected turns of the plot. And so the second ending came to me like that, because the authors tried and came up with their story, competently complementing the original films. It is unfortunate that Melissa overtakes the same death as her husband. But whether she died for sure? This question was asked by the fan of the game Emoleveldesigner, who created the “Mod of Pravda” continuing the plot of lemon balm Sing. Remember the same film cliche. He used dialogs that were not included in the main game, which makes this work extremely interesting. I advise everyone to experience their strength.

As a result of the passage, I decided that Saw: The Video Game was a good model of the game on the film. She competently and accurately expanded the ENT of the popular franchise. Yes, the gameplay may be outdated, but it is still able to challenge some part of modern sophisticated players. In short, for 2009 it is quite cool. Only it’s strange why the continuation never happened and the series was stalled on this? Apparently all due to assessments. Let’s see:

To my surprise, all this time there was a continuation on the consoles, about which I knew nothing at all. So there was a fate that I never had a single 3D console. Apparently, there is the real cause of the death of this series of games. Let’s see what they got there and from which the sequel has even lower grades.
Saw II: Flesh & Blood
The second game begins, like the first part, with the fact that the hero must be released from the trap. In both cases, they repeat what was in films, but only then the process looks vile. Now we play for the drug addict Kambell, who has a lot of cancer and live. To my surprise, his boots did not even stole him. Oh, how nice it is to crunch with broken glass, and not cut naked heels about it, yes David?

And you know, the beginning is not bad. The first riddle, where with the help of a mirror you need to inspect your wounds and repeat the drawing in the mechanism, hooked. I liked the new puzzles with fluorescent paint, which fraught with answers in the dark and only the light will show them. Collectible objects appeared – pieces of mosaics, which are gradually gathering in the overall picture, as well as small Billy dolls, which we often see on TV. If you collect dolls, then a small interview with Tobin Bell will open in the menu – the main face of the franchise. True, there is nothing interesting in this video. But it will be more difficult to get to them each time. Old traps changed, adding more interaction. Now we will not just turn them off, as in the first game, but dodge that it looks more interesting. And you can now die even from the location itself. And the first boss, so to speak, must be defeated not with rough power, but with cunning, forcing him to cigaret.
But all the good ends sooner or later and when Cambell dies or saves at the end of the first chapter, the action goes to the second hero – Mike, the son of David Tepp. In the first scene with him, the only one that goes in the first person, we find himself in the apartment of our deceased dad. Apparently, that fatal shot was committed recently, since the cops are examined. It’s nice to see Foster, forensic scientist from the first game. But when we go out to smoke, an unknown in a pig’s mask cuts the hero with the contents of the syringe.

And here the problems are already starting, oh. Boots! Our shoes were stolen again!! Kramer has some kind of fetish chtoli? Why so? After all, absolutely all the characters are in shoes! But not the main character. Yes, there are much less fucking glass in this part, but why was it to copy yourself? And again, you need to save a bunch of people, but now they are all somehow connected with the death of the father. Well, seriously? If you can believe with a stretch that the designer with his assistants converted one old hospital, having pushed a bunch of traps, then you just think about it, there will be some kind of abandoned motel and an incomprehensible building where you have to carry cargo, and, of course, an abandoned metro line with a whole station!! And everywhere there will be a variety of mechanisms, traps and tests that I can’t even imagine whether they can be made in reality. Even in the saw 2 there were very few traps and the action took place in a small house, and these events were after a game dilogy.
I praised the processed old riddles? Oh, forget it. If their quantity infuriated in the first part, then everyone is added here, a bit, since a small Katszen of a dodge, which cannot be discouraged. But QTE OKHH, they can not only coat, you can swim in it. Do not understand me wrong, I love rare interspersed QTE when they are to place. For example, in the last part they served for a counterattack in battle and did not come across every minute. And here everything consists of them! When we climb into the holes, break the walls, jump over the stretch, avoid the vulnelability of the floor and the ceiling, we dodge the shotgun and the peak of the jerk. Even fights! Yes, I understand that the combat system was there, but they tried to diversify it.

The objects that we beat the brothers in misfortune gradually broke and there was even a revolver that vanchants from a long distance. To the same, it was allowed to throw a wax stick, break the cracked wall with fists, and raise the stick back. In Flesh & Blood, the wall breaking only two times in the entire game. And, of course, the weapon will immediately become worthless, now it is disposable. It doesn’t matter what you had in your hands – a decrepit pipe or a steep fire ax, everything will break in an instant, even on the head of the next suicide.
In the first game, it was possible to deactivate stretch marks and set it up, thereby luring the enemy in a trap, or hide behind the door, close it on the jokkold and press the switch, frying the shock of the pursuer. Yes, there was even a craft system for the manufacture of various explosive and deafening objects, which also introduced an element of tactics. But here everything was limited to the extremely, cutting out the diversity. Not surprising, because the game was blinded in just a year. Therefore, we get:

As it turned out, the boss himself has a bunch of skeletons in the closet, because he is associated with the drug trafficking along with the second cop, which we saw in the father’s apartment. Yes, and what to pull, the neighbor was also a drug addict and street huckster working on this couple. You can still add a nurse, stealing tabletos and a quick peasant who was laundering money for all this brethren. Kramer says that this company is to blame for David’s suicide, because he followed the trail of drug dealers. But maybe I did not find any important document, but I did not find confirmation of these words. Yes, by the way, we also have notes here, but they are all connected purely with Tapp and often describe the events of other films, which is not at all interesting.

If in the first game it was possible to praise the development of at least a couple of characters, but no one caught me at all. Yes, they made it commendable that after the salvation of each person they now do not disappear from history and we will cross more than once. What was not in the last part. And some will even help in passing. But gradually they kill each other, trying to cover the traces of their dirty divisions, and you think so:

And even the most mysterious person hiding under the mask of a pig is just like furniture. Occasionally flashes on the screen to drag someone or kill someone and kill a couple of people. Yes, it is so easily, because he will not be anything for it. But according to the ideology of the saw, a person must pass his game himself, survive and rehabilitate, thus feeling the taste of life. It is difficult to do this, falling from the fifth floor. But this is another assistant Kramer, the previous one killed David for the exact same behavior. And killed at the request of John himself:
The developers in the first part planned to make Dr. Gordon. The choice was obvious, because it was him in the film TEPP considered him a saw. Unfortunately, when the story was completed by 90%, they called from the film studio and said that the doctors could not be used, since plans appeared on him. For this reason, there was even a cut, and translated with us, the voice acting of the designer with an appeal to the documents, from which we can understand that not 6, but 8 characters were planned to save.

But in the second game they simply scored, which is very infuriated, because the mask of the pig is one of the recognizable symbols of the saw series. Yes, even if you are not a fan, you are unlikely to like such an inexpressive sodkik.

The scriptwriters of both playations were the same, so I was amazed at how they could unravel even the most important character, who began this huge story, the one whom some considered a maniac, and others with an example to follow. John Kramer, designer, saw – a terrifying conductor playing with lives. We saw how he prepares traps, communicating with the subjects. They listened to his penetrating speeches, left on the film, hinting about the desire to recruit David:
Kramer: “What do you see, imagining me, detective? Lynchyer in the mask? Obsessed psychopath? Since it went for that, we are the same. We are different to a fraction of a millimeter.”
It is also pleasant that the voice of John was given by Tobin Bell himself – an actor who played the role of a saw in the entire series of films. In localization – well, FIG knows, it seems like it looks like it.
But alas, not in the second part. There is no Russian voice acting, and Kramer calmly walks along the locations and does not mind chatting the tet, but not at all in his style. Not to mention the setting tasks. Then he says in direct text that and where to look for further advancement. I understand that Michael is not a detective and obviously does not shine with his mind, but it is not necessary to simplify everything so much. Playing stupidly is not interesting, and a million QTE and weak characters only pour oils more into the fire of my ass.
I think it’s time to finish bombing and already tell about the finale of Saw II: Flesh & Blood . There are also two endings, with one difference – the version of the final screensaver depends on whether Cambell died or escaped, for which we played in the first act. If we decided to let him live a little more before death from cancer, then alas, we will see how he dies about a banal trap. And if they sacrifice them, well, or by chance to get stuck, then Michael will be saved. And the designer will generously give him a choice – to leave and publish all the data found by his father about the drug trafficking of dirty cops, or to try on the Pig mask and become his assistant in re -education of new players. You think the game will give us a final choice? Ahahah, of course not. She doesn’t even show that Michael chose himself! The result of all trials for the character remains unknown and breaks off with subtitles.
Most likely it was planned some continuation, which is why we were given an open ending, but sales and reviews of the second game were so bad that it was not even ported to PC.
A deadly fuse
It turns out that a rush and many unsuccessful solutions destroyed the whole game franchise. An increase in the number of locations is pleasant for the eyes, but does not withstand logic. The diversity and incredity of new traps knocks out of reality, you simply do not believe in their reliability. Stupid and uninteresting characters do not allow them to imbue themselves, you do not stupidly empathize with them. The presence of a pile of identical bosses causes only facepalm and irritation.
And to see both endings you need to go through the game completely twice. TWO! I barely mastered the only one. Here is an honest word – I even liked the first part, because the spirit of films is felt in it. And here is just a shower.
